The SS 10700 standard, also called the EMIL standard (Education Information Markup Language), aims for different actors to be able to collect, exchange and present information about educations and education providers in a uniform manner. The uniformity makes it possible for service providers to create services for information and data exchange between education providers and different target groups, such as prospective students. Anyone who wants to search for information about training courses, training providers and training opportunities at all levels can then find up-to-date information.
EMIL has its background in a government assignment, Soft infrastructure. The Swedish National Agency for Education began a collaboration with the Swedish Employment Agency to manage information about education in a more efficient way. This collaborative project was named SUSA, Samverkan Utbildningsinformation Skolverket-AMS. In the SUSA project, the SUSA hub service was created to collect, store and distribute data.
Every night, the Swedish National Agency for Education’s SUSA hub collects information about education from education providers around the country. This means that the SUSA hub contains information about all of Sweden’s education programs that are currently being offered.
The SUSA hub is aimed at those who want to spread information about their educational offer, and at those who want to retrieve information to build a service, for example a web-based search service for searching for educations. Examples of actors that retrieve their information from the SUSA hub are: Antagning.se, utbildningsguiden.skolverket.se and UniversityAdmissions.se
