When you ask students what they want to learn, most answer “I want to be able to talk!” The students wish for greater oral challenges and linguistic situations, based on reality. In Learn English there is therefore a large amount of communicative tasks linked to the various elements in the textbook.
Some know a little, others know a lot
This is one of the biggest challenges you have as a teacher, the wide spread among students in terms of knowledge level in the subject of English.
Students who are at the beginning of their learning – in Learn English, these students benefit from the fact that the texts in the textbook are listened to, read and processed together. In the long run, this strengthens confidence in one’s own abilities. On the student web, this group of students can rehearse and consolidate by listening to the texts, watching the grammar videos and doing vocabulary and grammar exercises at a basic level.
Students who need challenges – in the Learn English workbook there is Extra! Pick and choose! It is a complete spread, for each chapter, with in-depth information to the Main text and to an additional text. So this group of students really has to do, every lesson!
The pages in the workbook have a built-in progression that makes it easy for you as a teacher to individualize, for all students.
Texts that attract reading
Starting from fiction in teaching enriches students’ experience of the English language and gives them a different experience than the one they often get through various digital media.
In the Learn English textbook, six of the 18 texts are fiction, one text in each chapter. The texts have many beautiful pictures to support understanding. The joint work with these texts is invaluable. When the texts are to be read together, the teacher web’s nice and clear display of the text, with the associated audio file, is fantastic.
