“Revolutionary!” said the teachers in Finland when we launched Milli math there. They were referring in part to how the engaging story around Milli keeps the students’ attention and interest, but even more to the method on which the teaching tool is based – embedded learning. Now we are launching the popular math series in Sweden as well!
The method involves weaving in different task types, solution methods and strategies instead of practicing one part at a time. This means that the students constantly need to think and figure out how to solve each task.
When students encounter blended learning, they cannot count on a task to be solved in the same way as the one before because task types are mixed. This means that repetition is a natural and consistent element in the student books. Studies show that the method gives very good results. The learning becomes long-term, the knowledge seems to go deeper and stay longer.
The student books are available in two levels and the photocopiable worksheets are available in three levels to challenge each student and work with math at their level. We know how important it is to create the “I can” feeling and a positive atmosphere around mathematics.
For the teacher, there is the digital teaching tool Lärarstöd+ which becomes the hub for your teaching. Here are prepared briefings, interactive exercises that create engaging and varied teaching, and visual materials that help your students gain a genuine understanding of mathematics.
This also includes the teacher’s guide, which has a strong focus on varied teaching with many suggestions for activities and tips for teaching and practicing mathematics.
Milli math 1A, 1B and 2A will be published in the spring of 2024 and the series will gradually be built on with more titles in the coming year.
